In short

  • Pei wears WHOOP 5.0 on a Rhodonite SuperKnit Luxe band with a rose gold clasp, with a cap, white T-shirt, jeans and a red bag.
  • Wear it about a finger’s width above the wrist bone, snug enough not to slide.
  • Extra bracelets or a watch shouldn’t push the device or loosen the band.
  • Lotion, sunscreen and bright light under the sensor can throw readings off.

Panward Hemmanee, known as Pei, is an actress and model who started through the Dutchie Girl contest in 2001 and is remembered for villain roles in many dramas. In the Instagram photo (@ppanward) behind our Spotted On graphic, she wears WHOOP 5.0 on a SuperKnit Luxe band in Rhodonite.

An easy street look: a mesh cap, a white T-shirt and jeans, with two touches of red, the Rhodonite SuperKnit Luxe on the wrist and a red leather bag. To borrow the idea, match your band to the bag or shoes you’re building the outfit around.

Wearing WHOOP with jewellery and keeping it accurate

WHOOP reads your heart with light shone through the skin, so the sensor has to stay against it. Anything that loosens the band, lets it slide or lets light under the sensor can throw readings off. WHOOP’s help pages give these rules:

  • Wear it about a finger’s width above the wrist bone; any closer and accuracy drops.
  • Snug means the band doesn’t slide, no green light leaks out, and you can’t easily slip a finger under the sensor.
  • Keep lotion, sunscreen, sweat and dirt out from under the sensor.
  • Bright light getting under the sensor also skews readings.

Our own advice on jewellery: wear an extra bracelet or watch on the other wrist, or further towards the hand, so it doesn’t crowd the device or loosen the band. And if you take ECG readings on a WHOOP MG, wear it on the wrist you chose in the app.

Red bands in our shop

We don’t have Rhodonite yet, but we do have reds: CloudKnit in Nova, a deep berry red, and SportFlex in Fire, a bright red.

Our bands are third-party replacements that fit WHOOP 5.0 and WHOOP MG (Life). On an MG they can’t take ECG readings, which need WHOOP’s own MG bands; everything else works as normal. They don’t fit WHOOP 4.0.

Frequently asked questions

Can I wear WHOOP and a watch on the same wrist?

Yes, if they don’t crowd each other. If the watch pushes the device or loosens the band, readings suffer; wearing them on different wrists is easiest.

Why is my heart rate jumpy at times?

The usual causes are a loose or sliding band, fast wrist movement during exercise, bright light, sweat, lotion or sunscreen under the sensor, and cold.
